And Now for Something Completely Different

Marian Gurowicz

Yesterday was a banner day for the TE industry with the upgrade (or nerdification) of ThumbVu  and the launch of WebsiteBlaze.  These 2 TEs are taking the online world in new directions that weren’t even imagined previously.

ThumbVu moves the emphasis off the page being shown and puts the spotlight on the marketer.   Several TEs have tried using a system of selecting the next site to view by offering the surfer a choice of thumbnail pictures to pick from.  ThumbVu now shows a surf bar 13 avatars of the marketers who have sites in rotation (they use Gravatar) with a 14 spot for the famous CTP badges when they show up.

Pick a person and a random site that they have added and assigned credits to is shown.  Here’s where it gets really interesting.  Instead of having a live chat or asking the surfer’s opinion of the site, the right hand column is reserved for rating the marketer themselves on their passion, knowledge, and self-branding.  There is also space for the surfer to add a review with a function for other surfers to answer whether or not the review was helpful.

As I said in the beginning, this concept is totally new.  It takes a bit of getting used to in order to feel comfortable using it.  There is even a full color electronic manual available from the home page to help you get started.  Once you get over your initial feeling of “I’ve never done this before” I can almost guarantee that you’ll look forward to letting your peers know how they are doing in your eyes and finding out if you are making the impression that you want to make.

By the way, I’m not beyond a little bribery to help me increase the number of reviews that I receive.  I will send anyone who writes a ThumbVu review of me a CTP Token.  Just send me a Thumbvu PM to let me know your CTP user name.

Happy surfing both here and at ThumbVu, the TE's of tomorrow.
